Town of Bluffton officials estimate the town’s population around 15,000 and growing every day as indicated by building permits and the need to build more schools at every grade level. According to the 2010 Census, the population was 12,893. Bluffton is and continues to be South Carolina’s fastest growing community. What Town officials don’t debate is the 2010 Census captured the explosive growth of the town. Compared to the 2000 Census, the 2010 count represented a 911.22% growth rate. In the 30-year timeframe of 1980-2010, Bluffton’s population skyrocketed 2,056.02%.
